The Faculty of ECMS is proud of its diverse student and staff cohort.
Our cultural and social diversity enriches the faculty community with a wide array of backgrounds, languages and traditions.
We welcome staff and students from all over the world. Currently, our faculty community comprises staff and students from Europe, Asia, the Americas and from across Australia.
This page is designed to provide relevant and useful resources and academic and social support for all staff and students, and a platform to share and recognise their unique stories.
Support for LGBTIQ* Students and Staff
The Faculty strives to provide an inclusive and respectful university environment for people who identify as being lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex and queer (LGBTIQ*).
One way of achieving this is through an ALLY network. Allies are staff and students who are knowledgeable in, receptive to and understanding of LGBTIQ* issues. Allies are not experts about matters of sexuality and gender identity - they are people who strongly support making the University an environment where all staff and students can safely work and study free of harassment or discrimination.

Support for HDR Students and Staff with Parental Care Responsibilities
For ECMS staff coming back from parental leave of at least 12 weeks, the Faculty offers a Staff Research Support transition scheme, which offers funds of up to 0.5 FTE of a Level A position for six months to be used for professional or research development. Click here to find out more information and apply.
For ECMS HDR students with a scholarship, the Faculty offers a HDR Parental Leave scheme, aligning the parental leave offered to ECMS HDR students to that of staff. This results in ECMS HDR students with a scholarship having the exact leave entitlements as staff, as specified in the Enterprise Agreement. Click here to find out more information and apply.
Your space travel. Made By Me.
The launch of Made By Me is an exciting collaboration with aussie DJ duo NERVO and reveals the hidden engineering behind everything in our day-to-day lives. Featured in #MadeByMe is our very own graduate, Andrea Boyd, who currently works in the International Space Station Flight Control team in Europe!
Show us how diverse and creative engineering can be by sharing photos of your work to social media with the hashtag #MadeByMe.
