Dr Noune Melkoumian

One of the first two females in Australia to earn a PhD degree in Mining Engineering, Noune is passionate about the professional involvement of females in engineering education and industry.

She is a member of the Faculty Learning and Teaching Committee, the Faculty representative on the University Gender and Equity Committee, and the Equity Officer for the School of Civil, Environmental and Mining Engineering. Noune is also a Faculty champion for women in engineering.

A Lecturer in the School of Civil, Environmental and Mining Engineering, Noune has Bachelor and Master of Engineering degrees in Civil and Structural Engineering from the Yerevan State Polytechnic Institute, Armenia. In addition, she has two PhD degrees - one in Mining Engineering (Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering) from the University of New South Wales and another in Applied Mathematics (Fracture Mechanics) from the Yerevan State University, Armenia.
