Arching beneath our feet

The soil beneath our feet can behave in many ways, even forming arches.

This behaviour is called soil arching and is necessary to be researched further. We wanted to find out what influences the formation of these soil arches.

In this project, we use state-of-the-art equipment to analyse the deformation of soil arches. Our research produced a formula that can represent the influences, which provides better understanding to the soil beneath structures.
