AUSRT solar car

The Adelaide University Solar Racing Team (AUSRT) has refined Lumen II to compete in the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge (BWSC).

The BWSC is a 3000km race from Darwin to Adelaide in a vehicle powered completely by solar energy. The project aim is to compete in the challenger class by refining, building, and installing components—as well as testing and optimising the existing and new components to increase reliability and performance. The components worked on by this years' team are: new wheel assemblies to decrease loses from friction; suspension brackets to improve ride height and comfort; a new roll hoop to allow for a lower canopy, and eliminating gaps between the roof and body improving aerodynamics; and a new solar array to increase power generation therefore increasing top cruising speed. As well as other smaller modifications all together serving to make the 2019 solar car a much more competitive and reliable car.
