Blasting fragmentation optimisation

Utilising cutting edge LIDAR technology, coupled with drone flight technology, blasting reconciliation has never been more accessible and safe.

Many underground mines operate without a comprehensive reconciliation process due to difficulties with access and the risk of personnel exposure to falling rock hazards. This project conducted in BHP’s Olympic Dam Underground Mine Operation aims to demonstrate the validity of LIDAR scans for blasting reconciliation. The blast fragmentation analysis is conducted utilising Orica’s Powersieve(TM) software, this allows a relationship to be established between the Drill & Blast design parameters.
