Deconstructing Olympic Dam
Olympic Dam is one of Australia’s most notable mineral bodies that produces copper and uranium; the complexity of the mineral body means there are radioactive materials in the purification processes.
It is our goal to remove these materials using physical or hydrometallurgical processes to have a better grade copper. This will improve the overall process safety and create a cleaner processing site.
In this project we tested if the agent EDTA would be effective at removing radioactive material in flotation cells.
