Reducing ground risk by evolution

In each construction in building projects and geotechnical engineering, the ground risk is one of the highest elements of technical and financial risk.

These potential issues could lead to cost overruns and project delays. Hence, a detailed site investigation is essential. 

The motivation of this research is to produce an appropriate site investigation optimisation, which includes borehole details and pile settlement parameters. We took an example, the number of boreholes, test types and reduction method. This research will consider the case of a single layer soil profile. The optimisation will be based on a Monte Carlo analysis and an evolutionary algorithms framework.
