Searching for Spectre gadgets

If you own any Apple products, or have chosen to go with an Intel processor for your computer, you are at risk to having your private information leaked.

The Spectre hack of 2018 exposes a huge hardware vulnerability in modern day processors. This is due to an overlooked design flaw in one of its features intended to make them faster.

For this project, I look at the second variant of the spectre hack that relies on bits of machine code - known as "gadgets” - for it to be executed. I investigate ways to search for these "gadgets” in order to gain a better understanding of the hack, and to learn possible mitigations to prevent it.
