Trace elements in sulfide ores

Trace elements hosted in minerals.

In nature, almost all occurring minerals are not entirely pure due to the presence of various chemical variation and trace elements. It is considered that a wide range of rare and valuable elements needed for high-tech application is hosted in minerals, especially sulfide ores.

This project aims to address the distribution of the trace elements in mineral samples collected from Potosi deposits in Bolivia. By using SEM and LA-ICP MS analysis, spot and element map sketched will help identify the concentration of elements and correlation between them.

It is expected that the high concentration of valuable elements is identified in the research project. Then, these elements could be evaluated and used for commercial purposes. Moreover, further research in the Potosi deposits could be conveyed in the future.
