Visualizing cybersecurity analytics
Big data cybersecurity analytics (BDCA) involves gathering, storing and analysing large amounts of data to detect cyber-attacks.
The large volume of data collected can make it difficult to comprehend the analytics - and so visualised analysis becomes necessary, as it is concise and easy to understand.
This project aimed to develop a tool that is able to comprehensively visualise security analytics from a BDCA system to support effective responses to cyber-attacks. Data were captured from an Internet environment, analysed and categorised as attack types.
Analytic results from upstream processes are interpreted into pie, bar, box and scatter charts. This project demonstrates how visualisation can be a value-add component to any cybersecurity system, since it allows the analytic data to be shown in a more user-friendly way.
