Tim Tams and Future Collaborations

In early January, the Australian School of Petroleum (ASP) was pleased to host Mike Party, incoming president of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG).

AAPG is the world’s largest geoscience professional association, boasting a membership of over 40,000 professionals. Mr. Party, an Independent Oil and Gas geologist/businessman from Midland Texas, was in Australia on business and selected ASP as his focal point for promoting  university/industry collaboration in oil and gas. Mike enjoyed an afternoon tea visiting with students and staff and held wide-ranging discussions on the present and future state of the petroleum industry and technical issues around basin evolution and climate change. He will be highlighting his time here as part of his first ‘President’s Column’ in the AAPG Explorer (the association’s monthly newsletter) and looks forward to future involvement with the School and University – as long as further meetings involve his newly-found favourite snacks: the quintessential Australian Tim Tams and Mint Slices.
