DSTG PhD scholarship opportunity

Applications are invited for the following scholarship leading to the degree of PhD in the Adelaide Medical School.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work on a PhD project exploring identity recognition and using soft biometrics. This collaboration between Defence Science & Technology Group and The University of Adelaide seeks to develop a technology platform that uses a combination of force platforms (in-floor force sensors), depth sensors and video cameras to extract parameters unique to an individual with the goal of re-identification. We anticipate that the project will use machine learning techniques and we have, therefore, engaged with the Australian Institute of Machine Learning as a partner on the project.

We are seeking strong applicants with a background in engineering (electrical/mechanical/biomechanical) or computer science to take on this project. Applicants must be Australian Citizens or permanent residents of Australia who are acceptable as candidates for a PhD degree at the University of Adelaide. Candidates will be based at The University of Adelaide. The PhD comes with a scholarship of $30,000 per year (tax free).

Applications close 12 April 2019. Apply now.
