Congratulations to Abbas Zeinijahromi for SPE service award

Congratulations to Dr Abbas Zeinijahromi from the Australian School of Petroleum and Energy Resources for receiving the 2020 Regional Service Award for South Asia and the Pacific Region from the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).

The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) is a not-for-profit professional organisation with more than 153,000 members globally, spanning 143 countries and participating in 203 sections and 411 student chapters. SPE membership includes petroleum engineers, scientists, researchers, safety managers and related professionals, and more than 69,000 student members, with offices in Dallas, London, Dubai, Kuala Lumpur, Calgary, Moscow and Houston.

Abbas is an enthusiastic and dedicated SPE member. He has held several officer positions in the SA Section, including Section Chair. Abbas has organised training courses and technical functions to support continuing professional education. He has published numerous papers and been an active APOGCE Committee member since 2013. Abbas regularly volunteers at community outreach events, school visits and university open days to showcase our industry to high school students and the broader community.

Abbas served the SPE SA Committee as Section Chair in 2017 and 2018 during which the South Australian Section was awarded the Gold Standard designation, in recognition of its exceptional programs in industry engagement, operations and planning, community involvement, professional development and innovation.
