PhD opportunity: Microgrid Battery Deployment

This scholarship is jointly funded by Future Battery Industries Cooperative Research Centre (FBI CRC) and University of Adelaide to support a full-time PhD student who is undertaking research in Power Systems Engineering and application of large-scale energy storage for microgrid operation.

The FBICRC brings together over 60 industry participants eight universities, CSIRO and Federal and State Governments.

Through a six-year research and development program the FBICRC will target all segments of the battery value chain and deliver commercial, proprietary outcomes to accelerate industry expansion and grow a vibrant, emerging battery industry sector.

FBICRC scholarship holders will form part of the broader FBICRC community, participating in research and participant forums with opportunities to undertake industry internships and collaborate with a range of industry and research participants.

About the PhD opportunity

The scholarship will be for up to 3 years and has a stipend of $43,597 per annum, which is comprised of a University of Adelaide Research Scholarship ($28,597 per annum in 2021, indexed annually) and a FBI CRC Supplementary Scholarship ($15,000 per annum).

The base scholarship is likely to be tax exempt, subject to Taxation Office approval.

Applications must be Australian citizens or Permanent Residents of Australia or onshore international students who are acceptable as candidates for PhD admission at the University of Adelaide, and are available to commence in 2021.

Applicants must hold a minimum Australian First-Class Honours equivalent.
