After much deliberation the Faculty Judging Panel have selected our two winners who will proceed to the Virtual University 3MT Final Competition which will be held as part of the Research Tuesdays Series on 14 September. Thank you to all of our talented students who took on the challenge and we wish our ECMS finalists all the very best for the University of Adelaide Challenge.

PhD opportunity: Microgrid Battery Deployment

This scholarship is jointly funded by Future Battery Industries Cooperative Research Centre (FBI CRC) and University of Adelaide to support a full-time PhD student who is undertaking research in Power Systems Engineering and application of large-scale energy storage for microgrid operation.

ECMS researcher finds link between disrupted sleep and increased risk of death

Associate Professor Mathias Baumert and team have, for the first time, discovered a "clear link between the frequency and duration of unconscious wakefulness during night-time sleep and an increased risk of dying from diseases of the heart and blood vessels, and death from any cause, particularly in women".

Lab2Lab grant awarded to UofA researcher

Associate Professor Mathias Baumert from the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, in collaboration with Professor Hagen Malberg and Dr Martin Schmidt (Dresden), were awarded a Lab2Lab grant by the Graduate Academy of Technical University Dresden, one of Germany's top universities for engineering.
