Learning Analytics and Learning Technologies
With expertise in Learning Analytics and Learning Technologies, we explore how technology can be harnessed to make learning environments more engaging. Our work is applied in both the education sector and professional and industry environments.

Our Computer Science Education Research (CSER) group specialises in Learning Analytics and Learning Technologies. It is particularly concerned with supporting engaging and effective computer science and software engineering education, through:
- learning analytics
- innovative learning approaches
- online learning environments.
The CSER group leads the CSER Digital Technologies Education Program, a national education program targeting K-12 computer science education, undertaking both applied and fundamental research into K-12 computer science concept development.
Research impact
The CSER group aims to facilitate technology-enabled education and training that revolutionises learning environments’ effectiveness.
The group’s research has been applied nationally, including to:
- guide design of the University of Adelaide’s Computer Science Education and Research Digital Technologies Education Program massively open online courses (MOOCs)
- provide a national online learning program to support K-12 computer science education, developed in collaboration with Google Australia and New Zealand, and supported by the Commonwealth Department of Education and Training.
