Meat & Livestock Australia

The Teletraffic Research Centre has partnered with the Davies Research Centre in the School of Animal and Veterinary Sciences at the University of Adelaide as part of a technology transformation project funded by the Federal Department of Agriculture’s Rural R&D for Profit program through Meat & Livestock Australia.

Our contribution has been to translate research outputs from the Sheep Cooperative Research Centre into mathematical models for optimising meat yield in the sheep industry. Deliverables from this project include a prototype web application that can be used by abattoir operators to optimise carcase cutting plans. More broadly, we are working with members of Meat & Livestock Australia to find innovative ways to bring data science and mathematical optimisation methods to the table.
