Research Contract Exploring Digital Inclusion for Indigenous Australians

The CSER group is working with a team from across the University of Adelaide and the University of Canberra on a research contract with the Telstra Foundation exploring digital inclusion for Indigenous Australians, led by Professor Lester-Irabinna Rigney from the University of Adelaide.

Research Contract Exploring Digital Inclusion for Indigenous Australians. Prof. Lester-Irabinna Rigney, A/Prof Katrina Falkner, Dr Peter Radoll and Dr Mike Wilmore. Telstra Foundation Research Contract, $75,000 (2013).

In this project we are exploring what it means for Indigenous Australians, and more generally, to be digitally excluded and what impact the NBN will have upon this within Australia. Digital inclusion is a very topical, and very interesting area to work in, as it explores not only the technical issues of access to technology and availability but also community and societal issues of establishing sustainable programs to support access and training, as well as ethical considerations of ensuring that all Australians have the ability to participate equally in the digital world.

This has been a fantastic opportunity, and we hope to talk further about our work in this space as our involvement continues.
