Dr Abbas Taheri newly appointed president of ISRM
Congratulations to Dr Abbas Taheri on being appointed as the president of the Commission on Deep Mining of the International Society for Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering (ISRM).
The non-profit International Society for Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering was founded in Salzburg in 1962, and aims to
- encourage international collaboration and exchange of ideas and information between Rock Mechanics practitioners
- encourage teaching, research, and advancement of knowledge in Rock Mechanics
- promote high standards of professional practice among rock engineers so that civil, mining and petroleum engineering works might be safer, more economic and less disruptive to the environment.
In this role, Dr Taheri will lead a team of internationally regarded researchers to coordinate deep mining research activities within the ISRM community.
