University of Adelaide Named Winner of Undersea Technology Innovation Consortium’s Inaugural Prize Challenge

Scholars win Workforce Development Award to convert a hydraulic flume into a towing tank

Professor Eric Fusil and Dr. Kim Harvey at the University of Adelaide together with Dr. Rachel Pawling at University College London (UCL) have been awarded the Undersea Technology Innovation Consortium (UTIC) Prize Challenge for Workforce Development to support a project to convert a hydraulic flume into a towing tank.

The $15,000 (USD) awarded funds University of Adelaide student travel to University College London (UCL) to develop a case study of UCL’s recent transformation of their Hydraulic Flume to a Towing Tank – a vital first step in commencing our transformation in Adelaide. Work on this project will also then take place within the North Terrace Campus Hydraulics Laboratory at the University of Adelaide.

Professor Eric Fusil and Dr. Kim Harvey from the School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Adelaide will be supporting a team of highly capable students involved in the ongoing partnerships with UCL. These students were key in the development of this application.

The UTIC Challenge was created to enable innovation in the provision of workforce development in support of AUKUS and was available to academic organisations in the US, Australia and the UK.
